Clapping!

D: Everett learned how to clap today! A few days ago Daniel, Hanna, and the girls came over. At one point that night, Everett clapped. He then spent the next few minutes staring at his hands trying to figure out what he just did. As a side note, on Sunday morning he decided that the carpet was fascinating and spent a few minutes feeling it and looking at it from like 3 inches away. I think we have a very observant child. Anyway, I tried to teach him to clap that night, but he was too amused by my clapping to try it for himself.

Today, though, I thought we'd try it again, and he picked it right up. The video is below. He's too cute.

Father's, cousins (& a new one!), laughing, friends

A:

5 a.m. up and at it
By 6, Everett has had it
Back to bed, Mom's in heaven
Maybe he'll sleep 'til 7
Daddy doesn't hear a peep
It's Father's Day, he gets to sleep

For the record: he slept 'til 8:30 after going back to bed, but he sure thought it was time to play at 5. I had a wonderful Father's Day and I hope all of the fathers did as well.
I love my dad. I love that I got to see him way more often than a lot of kids get to see their dads growing up. He is so supportive, hardworking, and loving. I am grateful for the sacrifices he makes. I have learned a lot from him about how to work, serving others, serving the Lord, putting in an honest effort, prioritizing, being brave, having a sense of humor, etc. I can see that he loves my mom and he loves the Lord. I want to be more like him. I inherited his adventurous spirit, which has gotten each of us into trouble at times, but makes life more fun. (Not like bad trouble just going-exploring-in-places-that-the-security-guards-discover-you-in-and-tell-you-you-can't-be-in trouble) When I went to college his jokes became a lot more funny to me. Oh dad jokes. I think my dad is the king of dad jokes.

Dallin is already a great dad. He loves to take Everett during church. He says that I get him the rest of the week and so that's his reserved turn. One of my favorite things to watch is Dallin and Everett playing. Like in this video.

We had a Father's Day dinner at my grandparents after church. I love Perazzo family dinners. The piano-playing, singing, birthday singing, games of Wacky 6, Pinochle, Cranium, etc. visiting, joking, togetherness, eating. Did I mention we had ribs? Men and their ribs. Click on the link for a touching fathers-day-video.

Everett and Elise had another epic battle three nights ago.
He started it and she ended it. What I didn't catch on film went about like this: He was reaching out and hitting at her as she looked at him like, "Can I help you?" At one point he brought her down to the ground with him. My favorite part: she turned his face toward her and kissed him right on the lips! She then put her hands over her mouth and giggled.
Most of the video footage is of her attacking him.

My first Perazzo nephew was born on June 10th to my brother Jacob and his amazing wife Susan.
Owen David Perazzo came in at 8 lbs 5 oz and 21 inches long. I think he looks like Everett in the first picture and it is not just the fact that they have the same bath towel. I got to see him wide awake on skype and I get to meet him in person this weekend!
Photo: Our little ducky after his first bath out of the hospital!

This next clip is of Everett laughing. The cutest part starts at 0:36. He thought everything I did was hilarious for over two minutes straight.

About a month ago I had a wonderful time catching up with my friend Virginia and meeting her husband Jonathan and baby Ryker. I am grateful for my friendships and the joy they bring me. I got to feed Ryker his bottle. I haven't fed a baby a bottle in a long time so that was precious. Speaking of precious, have I mentioned how adorable my new nephew is?

Utah trip with a mission motif

A:

We three Marrs of Nevada are
bearing gifts* we travel by car
fields, baby poutin', salt flats, mountain
going to Utah far

The last week of April we jam-packed as many activities as we could into a few days in Utah.
Day 1: I hung out with friends. My roommates from freshman year and I at the BYU Creamery to celebrate their completion of the semester. I had been craving the creamery's Graham Canyon ice cream so much that I had attempted making my own. I even found a recipe for making 400 gallons of it here. That evening my roommate Rachel (pictured holding Everett) opened her mission call to Paraguay. Marina (across from Rachel) is going to Thailand and Emily (stripes) is going to Tokyo.
Meanwhile Dallin helped Andrew prepare for the next day...
Day 2: Andrew's wedding! Andrew and Heather looked so happy. I couldn't stop smiling through the whole ceremony. These pictures are from when we put Uncle Michael on baby-duty so we could head into the Salt Lake temple. (notice cousin Ryan who left to the Louisiana Baton Rouge Mission soon after) We also got to see Eric who is on a Family History Mission in Salt Lake. I even snuck a hug because he is my cousin after all. We had a yummy luncheon after and a family dinner gathering that night. It was wonderful to spend time with so many family members. Even Caleb Jung who is best friends with Andrew and Adam and one of my "brothers" was there.

Day 3
Brandon graduated from BYU's Business Administration graduate program with a marketing emphasis. Congrats smarty pants!
Day 4
We had a family reunion of my mom and her siblings and their kids. I especially enjoyed seeing my aunt, uncle, and cousins from NY. Leslie and I were the best bocce ball team this side of the Mississippi. Those bocce balls didn't know what hit them.

I helped my mom and Calista throw Susan's *baby shower.  Jacob and her are expecting a baby boy due tomorrow June 4th (Everett' first boy cousin on my side of the family!)  I was in charge of getting a couple of  games together for it. The first was for people to identify and label ultrasound pictures with what body part was shown in each one. The second was a race with partners simultaneously feeding each other applesauce with baby spoons. My Aunt Amy and Grandma Lowe won that one. Susan and Leslie were laughing too much to win.

FYI: My brother Michael has his mission papers in! Super excited for him!

6 months!

These are from Everett's half birthday party / Memorial Day get-together on May 27th. Daniel, Hanna and the girls came over as well as my G&G Perazzo. I did my best to allow the little smurf to enjoy the cupcake without consuming it.

Reno Aces game

A: I went to a Reno Aces game two nights ago. It was Northern Nevada Dairymen's night and so my dad and Uncle Alan had a bunch of tickets we gave to some friends and family. I got to go down on the field so I could film my dad pitch the "first pitch". This is of him with Cowabunga a few minutes before the throw.

And here's the pitch! Despite what you might have heard, it only bounced once before the plate. The catcher signed the ball afterwards, "To Adam".

I probably missed more of the actual game than I saw but I had a lot of fun nonetheless. I like the atmosphere of games: the music, cheering, competitiveness, trying to be on the big screen, the baseball card set giveaway by the Northern NV Dairymen. I enjoy watching drunk people who are just drunk enough to come up with the perfect things to yell at the ump but not quite drunk enough to be obnoxious or dump their beer on people. To keep with the baseball spirit my cousin Sarah ate a hot dog, and my brother Daniel and I shared a huge Triple Play Sandwich that contained brisket, bbq meatballs, pulled pork, and coleslaw. I don't even like coleslaw but it mellowed the spiciness and the whole thing was delish.
It was a close game and went in to extra-innings with us losing to the Tucson Padres 8-6.

Before the game, I took pictures of Everett in his cute baseball outfit. Sadly there wasn't enough room on my SD card for more than the picture and video above so I didn't take any of him at the game. When it got a little cold I had a warmer baseball uniform with an A's jacket (thank you Andrew via Hannah) and a baseball blanket (thank you Grandma Perazzo) for him. Whoever said that you can only play dress up when you have daughters? He was really well behaved throughout the whole trip and game, even when the game went over two hours past his bedtime.
