A: We are getting better at being able to tell why Everett is crying, especially when he's tired.
He has been sleeping really quite well. Last night and another night I woke to his cries at 4am and realized that it was the first time since I put him down at 8pm. That's 8 hours folks! Usually it's two times during the night and then at a decent hour of the morning like 7, but the couple times it's been only one time in the night have been really nice.
Because Everett is a bit big, we sometimes expect him to be as developmentally advanced as an older infant when he's not.
I've come up with some ways to make my life easier:
I keep a spit rag in my pocket (when I have pockets!).
In order to remember which side I last fed on during the night, I lay Everett down in his crib the same way he is in my arms after feeding him.
To stay awake in the middle of the night, I read or play games on our tablet.
I'm trying to be better at putting a cloth over Everett when I change him so as to not get peed on.
I never realized before having a baby that baby's get ear wax.
Some phrases said to Everett that I don't recall having heard before having a baby but now hear often from multiple sources:
Do you have a bubble?
Did you get a bone?
Did somebody pinch you?
Do you have the hiccumups?
I often find strands of my hair in Everett's fists and couple of times in his toes, and even a couple of times in his mouth. It's scary. I don't want to cut off his circulation or choke him. It's not like I put my hairs in these places on purpose, but as any long-haired person or parent/sibling/friend of one knows, despite best efforts, hairs just get everywhere. I got a hair cut, and it seems to have helped, but not enough.
Everett really likes his changing table and getting his diaper changed. Maybe he's secretly a nudist.
I like the mother's lounge at our church. It has a speaker system that allows us to still hear the talks, a changing table, two swivel rockers, a diaper pail, and a curtain for privacy. It does get smelly but our last ward's building didn't have one so I can't complain too much.
I love it...secretly a nudist! Just give him a year or so and the secret will be out because he will take off his clothes himself and run around naked when he can. :)
