Summer 1

Kid quotes
Adeline- "You say yes and I'll say no." (simultaneously and repeated 20 times by Ev and Ad) "yes, no, yes, no"

Everett- "Daddy"
Dallin- "Yeah, Bud"
Peter - "No, say: 'Everett Marr' "

Adeline
recent malapropisms: "spunky ghost" (spooky), "sprinkle shoes" (sparkle)
The other day I told her she could come out of her room at 1:11.  She came out a little while later and said, "It's one, one, one. I just pushed it until I got one, one, one."

Peter
catch phrases for a week or more:
"I never"
"oopsie daisy"
"okay"
"I'm so (tired/hungry/cold)!"
"... is not a word"
"not/my favorite" (e.g. "Circle pancakes are my favorite." or if there is something for dinner he doesn't want he tells us it's not his favorite)
When referencing time he would usually say "Seven, o’clock" or "at Friday"
He sometimes asks me "Clean or dirty?" about the dishwasher and I just think it's too cute how he has already started copying people asking that.
He has told a lot of incomplete knock knock jokes over the last couple weeks, about anything and everything. Some of my favorites:
 "Knock knock. (who's there?) Gravy."
"Ding Dong. Say: 'who is it' (who is it?) Abram Baby"
He's been asking for songs at bedtime that we have no idea what he's talking about so we'll ask him how it goes and he'll tell us a little story for a few minutes.
A couple times he pretended to hook himself into the car- "buckle, buckle. I'm ready." and "Mommy, "I'm not hooked in. I was just pretending. (pretends to buckle up) hook, hook, hook."

We've been trying to teach him to point with his index finger instead of his middle one.

Kindergarten Graduation

now he says he wants to be a teacher

Legos

We got some free Hobbit/LotR Lego sets at the library.
He put these two together with hardly any help from us.

friend's birthday party

Everett has been doing a "summer of innovation" camp/school at his elementary school this summer. He and a few other kids got moved to the class with kids who will be in 2nd grade in the fall.
making slime at summer school
He made this at school for  Mother's Day
how he likes his toast
We checked out the snap circuit set again from the library and Everett made this weapon/necklace.

We found this note he wrote, and I don't know what it's about, but I thought it was funny. It was soon after we had listened to Winnie the Pooh and reminds me of a chapter in that.

Peter

We drove by these cows and he insisted that we stop so he could see them.

having mini-figures yell at each other

Abram

This little guy has a right inguinal hernia, so he'll probably be getting surgery soon.

Kids at Home

Everett reading to his siblings

Silly selfies

 Playing with Legos

Making bread

One day we'll catch a video of them singing harmoniously, but for now we get this gem to show their spouses in the future.

Visit from Gramma!

Parks
Making dirt pile creation at Maroney Park (and not getting bitten by ants for once)

Banita Creek Park
(They convinced me to go to the park even though they were still in their pjs. Going early in the morning is a good way to beat the heat.)

Pecan Park new playground equipment

Pioneer Park new playground equipment
(on Independence Day and another day)

Blueberry Festival

Jog with friends

 Getting ready for Independence Day
The groundskeeper for the church by us let the kids help put up flags before Independence Day. These crape myrtle trees near our house seemed patriotic - red and white fireworks shooting into a blue sky.

Dentist office playroom

At a friend's birthday party

Dallin's birthday trip to Lake Nacogdoches

Events at Library and Rec Center

Summer Reading kick off

Everett and Adeline helped Peter in the inflated obstacle course

Art Day

Maker Camp straws and play-do creation (other days they made rockets, Lego bridges and buildings, books, puppets)

Wild Animals Show (opossum in pic)

Music exploration Super Tuesday

 Play for Fitness event
They got to take home Frisbees, t shirts, a water gun, water balloons, jump rope, balls, and a ping pong ball pump gun. I participated in some of the workout demos they had going - line dancing, cross fit, stretching.

Pool noodle mania

6 and under activities

building a "space rover" seat out of cardboard

Story hike near Pineywoods Native Plant Center

Story hike at Gayla Mize garden
looking for fallen paw-paw fruit (some in tree)

Nac Naz clubhouse

I attempted to go to the play The Reluctant Dragon, with the little ones and some friends, but Adeline and Peter got scared and after 10 minutes of me trying to comfort them, Adeline scampered down the  aisle yelling, "I want to go home!"

 Family Zoo trip

A little boy walked by us as we looked at the tapir and said, "that's the animal that wears a diaper."

Ag/duck pond at SFA
Another instance of going somewhere right after dropping Dallin off for class, before getting kids all the way dressed. :)

The ducklings came out of a nest built between some aerial roots of a bald cypress tree like this one. (Adeline in pic with stick on left)

Trip to Fallon/Reno for Sarah's wedding
Abram was teething on this trip so he was feverish for a couple days. I still had a lovely time.

Abram caught the standing bug while at the airport

Cow Appreciation Day at Chic-Fil-A

Random Nacogdoches things:
I just think it's so great that this business has wings in these two towns (Natchitoches is in Louisiana (Lose-ee-anna) and is pronounced closer to Nak-uh-dish by locals) It might be our sister city.

Thickets
The first pictures are of mimosa/Persian silk trees that I think look cool, but are considered invasive. (I didn't take the 2nd pic) last one is to show the density of the fauna in the woods.

I picked some wildflowers to enjoy at home, but decided not to do it again because there were several tiny bugs on them. I'll just enjoy them outside.
