It's a Marrvelous Life: lovin' on our baby, Major holidays

Peter is probably our easiest baby.

In the early days he:

mastered eating right away

a huge relief for me because with Adeline it took a month

screamed mostly only during diaper changes

now he enjoys being naked
his shrill shriek was compared to a nazgul or seagull by some, but the short duration of it made it bearable

(tmi warning) avoided constipation

I was astounded at how rapidly food moved through his system

slept sufficient amounts of time to keep us sane
would give a strange laugh whenever I took his shirt off
tolerated his siblings' expressions of love

And now he:

has gone entire nights without waking up
contentedly watches his siblings play
proudly rolls over almost every time he gets set down
smiles and laughs with little prompting
eats rice cereal with his only complaint being that it doesn't come quickly enough
is a cuddly baby and especially enjoys kisses on the cheeks
likes outings such as going to cousin B's basketball games

(They won the championship!)

Everett quotes-

Right after I closed the bathroom door Everett said, "you're hiding in there so I'm going to count to ten and then we're going to come find you."

"We have to eat babies so there can be a baby in our tummy"

While divvying puzzle pieces - "We don't have 25 so you don't get any." (Sometimes when he asks for something I give him "four for a four year old")

Adeline wants to wear any tie she finds. Peter has mixed emotions about his siblings.

Jacob's family visited over his Fall break.

Hanging out in the church parking lot to use the wifi before we got internet in our apartment. We went over a month without internet in our home. I didn't need it and enjoyed the break. Now that I am serving as primary secretary I will be using it a lot more.

Everett's version of sharing- he had the Lego people and gave Adeline their stands and capes to play with.

Adeline loves taking care of her baby doll. It rarely wears clothes but has frequent diaper changes, naps, meals, and stroller rides.

Christmas Season in Fallon

seasonal "baking"-
cinnamon tortilla snowflakes, snowmen cheese-sticks, sugar cookies

"gingerbread" houses of layered frosting and graham crackers with frosting and sprinkles for outer-wall paint

jam thumbprints and mini chocolate chip meringues brought to people while caroling with the Perazzo clan (in the rain; we're dedicated and/or crazy)

Fallon's Christmas tree lighting- fireworks, hot cocoa, cookies, fake snow, music, eerily lukewarm hors d'oeuvres, "I don't want to see Santa. I don't."

Everett longed to make a snowman at the first sight of a flurry, but by the time we made it out the door, all of the snow around our home had disappeared. So we drove until I spotted a ribbon of snow hiding from the sun in a public-looking place and staked our claim on it. We made a lovely dirt/snowman and threw snow at each other. Good times.

And the characters from Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. - Adeline 2:16

2nd ward Christmas party

Adeline is the cow. Everett came in later as a wise man. After what felt like forever after the first two wise men came in together, Everett slowly walked in and knelt down directly in front of the represented Jesus, facing him. I thought it was perfect. (picture by Beth)

What I get for torturing my baby by putting him in a stocking - goofy faces.

Christmas Eve and Day
Jacob's family joined us Fallonites for Christmas. The afternoon before Christmas we got together with them and Daniel's family for a burrito feast and performances by the kids. During the nativity play, Adeline the sheep kept stealing the baby doll representing Jesus and S. tried to do the same with Everett's turban.

This was our first Christmas morning with just us in our own home. Everett was clearly excited and aware of what Christmas morning means. His word of the day was, "What?!"
The gifting side of Christmas was broken up into four separate sessions with different family over the space of over a week. This helped ward off any potential meltdowns and allowed us to take it slow and allow the kids to enjoy each new treasure.

We need to be more on our game next year as far as Santa goes. Everett had a lot of questions about how Santa was going to get in when we don't have a chimney, and why we didn't have cookies for Santa, etc. We had purchased a guitar for them a while back and left it in the back of our car because we weren't sure where to hide it. I didn't think Everett ever got the chance to look back there, but upon finding it Christmas morning as a gift from Santa he asked if Santa got it out of our car. If that's what will save our skins then sure kid.

Adeline kept asking if her gifts were for Everett. "This Edit's?" (She used to call him Ebbit and now calls him Edit).

After a lovely sacrament meeting in which Dallin sung in a quartet and with the choir, we headed over to Grandma and Grandpa Perazzo's home and spent time with them and Daniel and Jacob's families. After Adeline opened her doll stroller she immediately went to retrieve a doll for it and didn't want to come back and open any more presents. Fair.
